Holy Week in Hong Kong

Palm Sunday

After arriving in Hong Kong on Wednesday, I will attend the early Palm Sunday Mass with the French-speaking Catholic community of Hong Kong.

I joined the Francophone Catholic community in Hong Kong directly. On Saturday, I arrived early for Palm Sunday Mass to make sure of the place and to be able to help anything if needed. I was invited to join the choir and the group of young people, beer/prayer, and after the Mass, since we were several young people not to celebrate Easter with our families, a parroisian, who was going to go on holiday that weekend, very kindly invited us to spend Easter weekend at her home.
After Mass, I went to dinner in the city with 2 other young people from the French-speaking part of Hong Kong, towards Centrale on the island of Hong Kong.

Holy Thursday

After my week of work with a meeting and readings of scientific articles from the research team with which I will work over the next 3 months at the PolyU University of HK, I went to Holy Thursday Mass with the French-speaking parroisse and the English-speaking parroisse which welcomes us to the Dalton school. During Mass, the priest washed my feet as a sign of love for one another so that, as Jesus taught us, we could be at the service of one another, as brothers, and not want to dominate the other.

Then I stayed for a while after Mass to worship Jesus in the rest and accompany him with prayer in the garden of Gethsemani.

Good Friday

Today, as it was a holiday in Hong Kong, after taking the boat in the morning, we accompanied Jesus on his way to the cross with an open-air cross road on the island of Lanteau.

In the evening, after repeating the songs to be able to accompany Jesus in his Passion by singing during the service, we celebrated the office of passion at Dalton Chapel.

Holy Saturday

That day, after breakfast, I took a time of prayer in the apartment, made laundry and prepared my bag for the weekend with the kids in Stanley. Then after eating, I went to Aberdeen for the rehearsal of the Vigile Pascale and the celebration of the Vigile at 5 pm.

We had the joy of celebrating 3 baptisms during this vigil, 3 new children of God who are our brothers in faith.

Christ is risen! Alleluia! He is truly risen! Alleluia! He is here with us and has saved us from death and sin. We must celebrate this!!!

After Mass, we met the young people to celebrate Easter together by the sea in Aberdeen with a drink and then went to Stanley to dinner and celebrate Easter together all weekend. We were able to dine on the rooftop of the apartment a gratin of potatoes and a chocolate cake that had been prepared for us very kindly.

Resurrection Sunday

After breakfast, we went to Easter Mass at the Church of Stanley at 11:15. During Mass, we heard the storm, but on leaving Easter Mass, the storm had calmed down so we went shopping for the weekend meals.

Then, after returning, the storm resumed, after preparing the meal, we ate it inside the apartment.

In the afternoon we talked, sang some songs, listened to Pope Leo's Urbi and Orbis message from Rome and then we had a barbecue on the rooftop of the apartment as it had stopped raining.

Easter Monday

After waking up by my internal clock early enough, I sat down to finish reading a book about the Our Father, then when the others woke up, we had breakfast the rest of the torrijas I had prepared for the lunch of the day before.
We then went to the Stanley market and then to the beach to swim there. We even had fun with the sand keeping us children's souls.

Then we went back to the apartment to prepare lunch. After dinner, we played to Switch games in the afternoon, first Mario Party Jambory and then Mario Kart World.

Then we prepared the early dinner to be able to return not too late to Hong Kong to rest and well start the week from Wednesday concerning me.
